Welcome to Modern School
Modern School-Preparatory is an English medium co-educational private unaided Christian educational centre with classes from Lower Nursery to Kindergarten. It was founded in 1953 by Mrs. Enid Isaac, B.A., B.T. (w/o Late Brig. George S. Isaac), in a small way with only five students. It was the first English medium school in Barrackpore sub-division..

Modern School aims to provide quality teaching and learning for all its pupils, and the development of the whole child in a safe, secure, happy, and caring environment. Helping children to develop good attitudes and values is an important feature of our work.
Our Organization
Children spend four years in their preparatory school,and each age group is Classified as follows:

The School maintains small classes to ensure individual attention for each child. Over the years, we have sustained an excellent pupil-staff ratio.
Play Group
Rudimentary skills and manners are taught in a small and friendly playgroup setting.
Extracurricular Activities
We offer a variety of extracurricular activities, including nature walks, art & craft, elocution, singing, dancing, and cultural programs.
School Policy
– No Donations for Admission: The school does not accept any donations for admission. No staff or agent is authorized to collect donations on behalf of the school. All payments made during admission will be issued a receipt.
– Ban on Corporal Punishment: Corporal punishment is strictly prohibited. Teachers are not allowed to use it as a means of discipline.
– Private Tuition Discouraged: The school strongly discourages private tuition. Parents are advised not to promote this dual school system.
Role in the Community
Modern School takes pride in its significant contribution to the development of Barrackpore. It was the first English-medium primary school in the Barrackpore sub-division after Independence. Since its inception, the school has provided quality education, nurturing students academically and equipping them with life skills for responsible roles in society.
The founder, Mrs. Enid Isaac, has been widely recognized, including receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award for a Teacher from *The Telegraph Education Foundation*, presented by Mr. Narayan Murthy of Infosys. Alumni of Modern School hold prestigious positions worldwide, and the school feels immense pride when former students return as grandparents to revisit their alma mater.
